Position Title:  CoMET Technician/Inspector

Position Status:  Full-time employment

Description of Duties:  Perform construction materials testing & ICC special inspection for various construction projects across Alaska, including (but not limited to):

  • Concrete/asphalt testing & inspection;
  • Soil compaction testing and earthworks quality control/inspection;
  • Foundation installation inspection;
  • ICC special inspection; and
  • Laboratory testing of soils and construction materials.

Duties will consist primarily of construction-site testing/inspection with some laboratory testing.  Projects are primarily located in Southcentral Alaska, with periodic assignments in remote portions of Alaska, including rural villages and the North Slope oil fields.  Must be willing to work standard 7-5 (M-F) schedules, as well as be available to work overtime and/or weekends as needed (especially during summer months) and be available for periodic long-term deployment to remote job sites (ranging from a few days to a few weeks at a time).  Suitable candidates must be capable of working on their own and as part of a team and must be well organized and detail-oriented.  Punctuality and reliability are key traits as well as a positive mental attitude and strong character.  Employees will be provided with the job training and mentorship necessary to confidently and competently execute their assigned duties, and educational opportunities will be periodically provided to employees to develop new skills and broaden their professional experience and expertise. 

Experience/Qualifications: 

  • Minimum requirements:
    • High-school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
    • US citizen
    • Clean driving record
    • Physically fit (capable of lifting periodic loads of up to 50-lbs over short distances)
    • Able to follow both written and verbal instruction
    • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
    • Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
    • Basic math and computer skills
  • Desirable qualifications:
    • AASHTO, ACI, WAQTC, ICC certifications
    • Construction site experience
    • Previous testing/inspection experience
    • Previous military service

Compensation:

  • Beginning wage starting at $18 to $22/hr (DOE)
